ABOUT ME
Hello, cinephiles, casual moviegoers, and people who accidentally found my site through SumbleUpon (but are now hopelessly hooked, I'm sure). I hope you've enjoyed your perusal of The Close-Up. This is my personal blog based around all things film, from new releases to classics to the hidden gems of film history. I'm a huge, self-professed movie junkie, and hope to share my love of film with as many people as possible. I recently graduated from the University of Toronto with a B.A. in Cinema Studies and English Literature, and will begin an M.A. in Film Studies at the University of British Columbia in the Fall. And yes, I'm aware that I'll probably never have a real job, but at least I can avoid wearing pantyhose and talking about quinoa recipes for as long as possible.
In the past, I've worked as the Assistant Video Producer at TrendHunter.com, and as the Special Events & Communications Assistant with Women in Film & Television-Toronto. I'm incredibly passionate about the female presence (or lack thereof) in the film industry, so if you're not into that, I strongly suggest you shove something sharp up your rear end, or, alternatively (and less painfully) check out Amy Poehler's Smart Girls at the Party website.
